What is the Bible? (Cultus: Sanctuary | Temple Services.)

You’d expect to see some similarities between how the Israelites worshipped and how others did in the Ancient Near East. They all believed in divine beings, so they had worship places and leaders for those rituals. Temples were everywhere, and you might recognize sacrificial altars from the Bible that look a lot like those from other cultures. Both Canaanites and Israelites offered burnt sacrifices and peace offerings, which suggests they shared some common practices, even if they developed them in their own ways.
But, when you dig into the details, there are some big differences.
