DESECRATING CHRISTMAS TREES

I LOVE Christmas trees and really hate having to dump one after the holidays are over. I have narrow doors and had to literally break apart the tree, destroying it on its way out so I could tip it over outside, instead of the water from the tree stand spilling indoors. The scene looks like a tree massacre, a trail of its greenery left behind. It took an entire morning to take down the decorations.

Every year, I have adorned a tree with my family. This was the first year I spent Christmas Eve by myself, my family gathering together Christmas morning. Bittersweet solitude. The tree is SACRED. I kept a bag of branches and plan to do a ceremonial burn to HONOR the tree. The pictures and memories remain, so I can still love it forever. It was left completely unrecognizable by the end, only an empty shell of a tree remaining. I will not be doing trees this way again. Heart breaking.
