The Forgotten Genius: Shivkar Talpade and His Ancient Indian Flying Machine
Shivkar Talpade, a remarkable Sanskrit scholar in the 19th century India, was inspired by ancient Indian texts that described flying machines called vimanas.
He decided to build an aircraft based on these descriptions and named it "Marutsakha," which means "friend of the wind." In this video, we explore Talpade's journey as he constructed Marutsakha using materials like wood, bamboo, cloth, paper, and a lightweight metal alloy called "Marut".
We witness his groundbreaking flight in 1895 that reached an altitude of around 1,500 feet, almost a decade before the Wright brothers' first successful flight.
Join us as we delve into this fascinating tale of innovation rooted in ancient wisdom and its impact on modern aviation history.
