After the rally in Washington Square Park, thousands marched through many streets in Manahatta. They ended the protest in Herald Square. This was one of over 80 demonstrations in the US.

Palestinians, #Mexicans , #migrants , etc. marched in support of #Palestine , #Mexico , #workers , rights of immigrants, women, the LGBTQ+ community, and everyone under attack by Trump’s billionaire agenda. They celebrated the release of Native American political prisoner Leonard Peltier and the release of Palestinian prisoners.

Claudia De la Cruz, former 2024 US presidential candidate for the Party for Socialism and Liberation (www.pslweb.org), was one of the speakers.

Jill Stein, former 2024 US presidential candidate for the Green Party (www.gp.org), was also a speaker.

Susan Sarandon was a speaker. She joined the NYC demonstration with thousands of New Yorkers.

“New Yorkers have come to the streets en mass in freezing temperatures to show the world that we will fight back to defend our rights, won through struggle. NYC is joined by over 80 cities demonstrating around the country on Inauguration Day and MLK day,” said The People's Forum.

“In only his first few hours as president, Trump has already promised a slew of executive actions that he will implement this week – including a mass deportation campaign, militarizing both our borders and the police and cutting the Green New Deal. This is in addition to Trump’s promise to continue to enable the Israeli regime in its conquest of exterminating Palestinians both in the West Bank and in Gaza,” said New York City Chapter of the Palestinian Youth Movement.

“NO ICE OR POLICE! NO JUSTICE, NO PEACE!

On Jan. 20 — Inauguration Day and Martin Luther King, Jr. Day — thousands of New Yorkers have taken the streets of Manhattan to fight back against Trump’s extreme right billionaire agenda!” said The New York City branch of the Party for Socialism and Liberation.

“The Trump victory in the 2024 election represents the complete failure of the Democratic Party to stop the rise of the ultra-right. In fact, they have contributed to it by adopting much of the program of the extreme right while embracing endless war. Instead of responding to the needs of the people, both the Democrats and the Republicans have moved further and further to the right," said organizers before the demonstration.
