Fasting for spiritual results is a neglected activity in most assemblies, that claim to be disciples of Yeshua. In this Berean Bible study, we look at patterns and examples that we see in the Bible, regarding the Act of Afflicting Your Soul, demonstrated by many examples throughout the Bible’s history.

Modern believers often try to replace Biblical fasting with other, less painful activities to curry favor with Yehovah. Giving up one of your bad habits for lent, cutting back on wasted time that Yehovah has said is not fruitful for you, and even suggesting that fasting can be used for some weight loss program or cleanse, are all deviations from God’s intention for Fasting.

Godly Fasting is always about your heart condition and never about your outward appearance. Fasting is always about food and drinks and your willingness to starve your carnal desires, and to utilize that newfound time to feed your spiritual man on the Bread of Life and the Living Water from the Holy Spirit.

Trust in Yehovah with all of your heart and do not trust in your own abilities. Cry out to Yeshua and accept His free gift of redemption for your life and be filled with the Holy Spirit of Yehovah. Trust in the Plan that will never fail!
