Lighthouse to get much needed updates and repairs.

The Manistee North Pierhead Lighthouse provides mariners guidance on Lake Michigan. However, it’s in need of some repairs. Built in 1927, The City of Manistee owns the structure, but last week the Sable Points Lighthouse Keepers Association signed an agreement to manage it. They say they plan to renovate the lighthouse and open it to the public. Paint, power, solar panels and extra handrails will be added. The public is expected to gain access in the summer 2026, with tower climbs to the top and a gift shop. David Barr Michigan News Source.
