Arlington Democrats and School Board Still Silent on Other than Normal Toxicity on School Board

At least according to reports in the press, after a stiff upper lip school board meeting, where departing members who had chosen not to seek reelection had departed with hints of division amongst indivisible Arlington Democrats in December, one month later the decision of the Chair Mary Kadera left questions about more than the usual tensions, which Kadera had described as “toxicity”. And, according at least to reports in the press, with February just around the corner, the “nothing: more important than our kids” remarks at the Arlington NAACP candidate forum in 2023 take on a darker hue. Why is not even the education committee for the oldest and boldest civil rights organization not capitalizing on the recent election of their former President Julius “JD” Spain to the County Board to exploit their position and expand their influence, especially with the plurality of students in public schools being children of color, most adversely impacted by an achievement gap?

“Well, Howard, you know we prefer people who have been teachers on the school board because they are supposed to be the experts, and we only have about 8,000 employees in APS, which narrows the potential candidate pool down. Of course, maybe we can get some of those parents expressing general angst about school closures in pandemic. I am sure Miranda Turner must have a ton of experts like herself, or she wouldn’t have gotten elected. But I am sure with Arlington GOP raising all that money, and now with reports about the prosecutor having blood on her hands, especially if Winsome Sears plans to make history, we should see some great candidate come forward after they finish interviewing all of their qualified folks, or just get Dave Foster to run. He did it before and so he can probably do it again,” remarked Major Mike Webb.

Webb continues to press officials locally and nationally about concerns with respect to a potential risk of causing breast cancer associated with adenovirus and mRNA; however, certainly as Vice President, Kamala Harris would have been in the most advantaged position to acquire intelligence on the issue, and as Congresswoman Jennifer McLellan had repeatedly emphasized in 2024 as the Democrat Party nominee’s surrogate in Virginia: bodily autonomy is on the ballot, the main issue for women’s healthcare.
