Trumps Policies Crazy or Not? Part A

Trumps policies initially look ridiculous for example adding an extra state, invading Panama, or buying Greenland, but on closer inspection its hard to draw a conclusion yet. It is however a pity that he frames his foreign policy with overt economic threats to foreign countries.

The citizenship by birth legislation under discussion is:

"Fourteenth Amendment

Section 1

All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws."

Rightly the question is, are there people born in the united states, but not subject to the jurisdiction thereof, and if so, who are they?

When this law was originally written, it was meant to extend citizenship to the children of slaves or ex-slaves born in the US because they were subject to the Federal Law, but some states were saying not to state law.

This strangely enough isn't a big problem today.

Barnes suggests that pretty much everyone is subject to the US jurisdiction, therefore essentially every child born in the US is a citizen.

Trumps executive order that they are not, would not be approved. This would allow Trump to ammend the constitution with large public support. Therefore Barnes argues that what Trump is doing is reasonable, provided he makes an amendment to the Fourteenth article of the US constitution.
