Australia tour of Sri Lanka 2025.
2nd Day 1st Test at Galle International Stadium Galle. Dt:- 30th January, 2025.
Resuming at overnight score of 330 for 2 wickets Australia declared their 1st innings at 654 runs for 6 wickets. The highlight of the innings was the 266 runs partnership for the 3rd wicket between Usman Khawaja and Steven Smith, then the fourth wicket partnership of 146 runs between Usman Khawaja and Jos Inglis.
Steven Smith was first to go today after making 141 runs from 251 balls hitting 12 fours and 2 sixes.
Then Usman Khawaja who made his splendid maiden double century of 232 runs from 352 balls hitting 16 fours and one six.
Jos Inglis batted splendidly making a century on test debut. He scored 102 runs from 94 balls only hitting 10 fours and one six.
Beau Webster made 23 runs. Alex Carey remained not out on 46 runs and Mitchell Starc not out on 19 runs.
Australia declared at 654 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in 154 overs.
In reply Sri Lanka started very disasterly and at stumps were 44 runs for the loss of three crucial wickets. Sir Lanka loss the wickets of Oshada Fernando, Dimuth Karunaratne and Angelo Mathews each incidentally scoring 7 runs.
