U.S. Special Envoy Visits Venezuela

Richard Grenell was the U.S. envoy to Venezuela to demand the release of six American citizens from dictator Nicolás Maduro. He succeeded, and now these six individuals are back home.

Maduro's state-run television, loyal to the dictatorship, manipulated Grenell's arrival, telling Venezuelans that it was a diplomatic visit aimed at bringing both nations closer and negotiating the reestablishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

Maduro will manipulate everything he can to try to improve his battered and widely despised image. He must be clear that President Trump will not negotiate. On the contrary, it is very likely that new sanctions will be imposed on Nicolás Maduro's dictatorial regime.
