The Chainsawga: Roughing it isn’t just for Camping; Furniture Build DIY

Welcome back to the Chainsawga series! In this episode, we’re back at the Tennessee camp, transforming raw, rough-cut wood into a functional outdoor cooking table. Every cut? Made with a chainsaw. Some of them? By a 14-year-old. Talk about hands-on craftsmanship!
Building the Rough-Cut Table
Our biggest challenge? Drill batteries. With all three running low, efficiency was key. Despite that, we managed to:
• Cut every piece with a chainsaw
• Pre-drill holes to prevent screws from snapping (learned that the hard way)
• Use exterior-grade 3-inch screws for durability
• Design a lower shelf for added storage
Key Highlights:
• Sturdy Build: Even with a slight lean, this table isn’t going anywhere—probably tornado-proof (well, maybe).
• Rough Charm: The chainsaw marks add character. Who needs perfection?
• Unique Wood Grain: Loving the natural red tones in the wood. Might even stain it to highlight the grain.
• Functional Design: Elevated 7 inches to prevent sinking in mud and protect from rot.
Final Thoughts:
It might be rough, but it’s solid, practical, and has a ton of personality. Perfect for grilling out and making memories at the camp.
