Visa & Mastercard Own 80% of the Market

Visa and Mastercard give volume discounts to Walmart and their “fellow” corporations but when it comes to mom-and-pop business they screw the hell out of them.

Visa and Mastercard have over 50% profit margins.

The small business must stick to using Visa and Mastercard because they control 80% of the market, they have NO freaking choice. The customers will have these cards.

This is a classic Monopoly and they don’t want any more competition.

Poor Visa & Mastercard.

Consumers now owe $1.17 Trillion Dollars on Visa and Mastercard Payment Neworks.

They are not banks, they do the processing and transaction fees for the banks.

 They license their technology to banks and other financial institutions to issue cards.

Their profit margin is at least 50%. That’s pretty good.

Visa does close to $7 Trillion dollars of transactions every year.

Visa did $35.9 Billion in revenue in 2024.

They had $19.7 Billion in profit.

The Average APR for 2024 on credit cards was 28.75% interest. That has nearly doubled in the last 4 years.

Is there any wonder why the middle class is stuck and the super wealthy continue to gain wealth?

This was Senator Josh Hawley (R-MO) questioning Visa and Mastercard representatives on their profit margins in November 2024.
