Antibiotic is killing kefir

Our kefir grains died yesterday. We suspect that it is because of the antibiotics that was given to the cows.
This reminded me again how dangerous antibiotics are and how lightly they are prescribed and then eaten by billions of people. How come you can not throw antibiotics in a normal thrash can but at the same time, it is expected of you that you throw them in your body.
