First, let’s start with the biggest money saver, choosing the right resort. We have always dreamed of taking our daughter to the Beaches resort in Turks & Caicos for fall break, but the cheapest room for two adults and one child for five nights (with all the discounts, credits & free night room offers), was going to cost $4,300 alone. Not in our budget!

That’s when my amazing extended family started looking at other all-inclusive locations in the Caribbean and the Gulf of Mexico, and they found the Barcelo Maya Palace in Riviera Maya, Mexico. This place was awesome, and cost just $1,620. If you do the math, thats $108/person/night.

All you can eat, drink and play.

The other way to save big is on the flights. It pays to use airline points. Round trip flights from Atlanta to Cancun were $580 each. Delta offers non-stop flights for 35,000 points each.

I had already earned enough bonus miles to cover my daughter’s and my ticket. My husband then signed up for a no annual fee credit card offer that earned him 40-thousand bonus miles if he spent $2,500 dollars on the card in 3 months. We simply paid all of our usual bills with his card, paid that card off, and earned the bonus miles for his free flight. You will still have to pay out of pocket minimal flight taxes for each flight.

You just have to take your time, do a little research, and be creative. That’s how you can save more than $2,000 on an all-inclusive family vacation.
