WHY NOT: How To Save $750 On Your Pensacola Beach Vacation

This Why Not? episode shows you how we saved $750 on our 2024 Pensacola Beach vacation. Our family of 4 (2 adults, 1 child & a dog) traveled for 4 days & 3 nights, staying on the beach for $1,000 total. That includes transportation, hotel, food, drinks, and we had blast! Here's how:

1) Save $ On Transportation:
We could have flown from Nashville to Pensacola Beach, but it would have cost us $450+ in airfare. Instead, we drove the 700+ miles each way and made a fun roadtrip out of it for $95 total in gas. And, our pup Pika got to come with us.

2) Save $ On Hotels:
Do a simple Google Calendar search when you find the hotel you like. We loved the Hampton Inn & Suites by Hilton, because it was ON THE BEACH and pet friendly for Pika.

Don't pick busy dates during the summer or around holidays. We specifically chose the days AFTER Memorial Day weekend to get a better rate.
We also used our rewards earned on Hotels.com. You can save A LOT by signing up for rewards programs. It saved us $70 off per night at the hotel.

3) Save On Food & Drinks:
The Hampton Inn & Suites has a GREAT free breakfast. That saved us $30 each day in food costs. The rooms also come with microwaves and refrigerators, so we stock up on snacks at the grocery store. In the end, we're only going out to eat for dinner each night.
We also saved on cocktails. My husband and I are not picky wine drinkers, so we purchased 3 double bottles of wine ($10 each) at the grocery store, and we fill up our tumblers throughout the vacation. That's 30 glasses of wine for $30 total.

4) Save On Excursions:
The great thing about the Hampton Inn & Suites at Pensacola Beach is the experience. It's right ON THE BEACH! Also, the hotel gives you a wristband which gives you access to the two hotel pools, and also access to the pools next door at the Hilton hotel. It's like getting two resorts for the price of one!

5) Stay Until Checkout:
We stayed until checkout to enjoy the amazing warm turquoise water at the beach, and then decided to hit the road back to Nashville. You can use websites like Wanderlog.com to find fun affordable stops and experiences along your route. During our roadtrip we decided to have more fun and stayed at an affordable Best Western hotel on the interstate.
