I was tested yesterday with my son.

He decided to eat jello with his fingers instead of the spoon right next to him.

It got all over his clothes, the floor we just cleaned and I could have snapped.

I had to force myself to guide his behavior with humor instead of crushing him in the moment.

He learned the lesson but without me snapping.

We are still going to screw this up fathers, but if are intentional about it and focus on it everyday we can do it less and less and change how we make our kids feel.
