X Communities: Major Overhaul Makes Posts Public & Replies Open – Good or Bad? X Society Deep Dive

X’s Communities just got a major overhaul. Posts and replies are now visible to everyone, not just members, which means anyone can jump into the replies, but only members can start new posts.

The goal?

Boost visibility and pull in a bigger audience for community discussions.

Based on posts floating around X, this update was officially rolled out to make Communities more public and interactive, turning closed conversations into something way more open and engaging.

Are there some downsides? Sure, but Misha the Turtle argues that this is overall a good change by X.
