Another official admitted expectations were too high when Starmer took office.

With bigger challenges like Trump, AI, and climate change, EU leaders have little time to dwell on U.K. relations.

A senior EU diplomat noted that every capital has moved on, and the U.K. is just one of many priorities, Politico has reported.

Starmer will meet EU leaders in Brussels on Monday, joining them for dinner to give the U.K.’s input.
