Legendary reggae singer Bob Marley would have been 79 years old today!

We celebrate his iconic and revolutionary songs that provoked us to think deeply about our African heritage and emancipation. Marley (1945-81) helped popularise Rastafari, a social and religious movement that embraced a Pan-African political consciousness. 

In this video, his granddaughter, Donisha Rita-Claire Prendergast (@ on X), an actress, model, dancer and poet, speaks about the reggae icon's revolutionary lyrics, which the mainstream has conveniently ignored. His granddaughter calls us to action, asking us not to allow others to sanitise the liberatory message that Marley tried to spread through his music.
