He left YC after college in hopes of never having to return and established a thriving architectural business in Sacramento. From there he became the resident architect for Glad Tidings church and the Embassy of Heaven campus for decades.

A failed marriage drew him back home for a few years only to leave again in 1999 with plans to live on the beach and work his business from there.
