A speech about hate

Prominent conservatives like Trump, Farage and LePen get called haters all the time. They know it is part of the worldview of their opponents.

Though I am not prominent, I often get called a stupid, ignorant hater simply for holding views that do not conform with another person's worldview. It is a phenomenon that bears analysis. Why does the discussion take place on an emotional, visceral rather than an intellectual level?
