Relationships And Commitment

Commitment takes a relationship from a place where both parties can easily leave to a place where they must solve their problems. I liken it to being on a ship in the ocean vs being in a docked boat. When there is a problem in your relationship, committed people must take it seriously and the stakes are higher if they fail to solve it. For uncommitted people, the stakes are low. When there is a problem it is easy to step off the boat and get back on dry land, leaving your partner and your problems behind. Sounds nice, but if you remain uncommitted you may never leave the dock. The power of commitment is what propells you and your partner off into the ocean to sink or swim, and you can only truly start your voyage together and have the adventure of your life when you make that commitment.
