After defeating Ornstein and Smough, your next step will be to go upstairs and through this door, where Gwynevere awaits you. She grants you the Lordvessel, which allows you to warp between bonfires (fast travel). You also have the option to join her covenant, the Princess's Guard, which awards you the Ring of the Sun Princess, as well as achievement on Steam.
