"SURRENDERED," Walk With Me (Men's Retreat) 2022

“Surrendered,” is a piece of artwork drawing inspiration from life experiences and The Word of God. The artwork was created in dedication to the Walk With Me men’s retreat.

The Walk With Me annual retreat is men taking time to get together, praise, worship, pray, break bread, and dig into scripture. Time is allotted for exploring the challenges each man is individually facing whether they be spiritual, financial, marital, vocational, parental etc., and time is also spent celebrating the victories of life as believers. Members of the Body of Christ should not be alone with their life challenges, they should fellowship with other believers in all they do. The retreat began in 2016 and inspired servant first attended in 2018. Two years later and after some discussion with group leadership, inspired servant created artwork on canvas and an image was inked onto T-shirts. The tradition had been established, and it continues in 2022.

Surrendered and submission are not the same thing. Although the two words have similar meanings, each differs on a very important point – willingness. Whereas submission does not always include acceptance of another’s authority, surrender does. As you enjoy watching the creative process, ask yourself: Are you surrendered to God’s authority? Are you kneeling down before the creator of the universe? Is Jesus the Lord of your life? Is your sword the Sword of the Spirit (Word of God)? Does your sword represent (read: manifest) as the cross which we should all pick up and bare daily? Are you reading your word every day like the surrendered figure in the painting?

Since its inception, each Walk With Me retreat has been centered around a theme. The artwork for the seventh annual retreat (2022) was conceived from inspired servant’s previous retreat experiences (2018, 2019, 2020, 2021). Those experiences (praise, worship, prayer, fellowshipping) in combination with how life as a believer should be lived – surrendered to God’s authority.

“inspired servant artwork” is a ministry which exists to glorify God. Whether observer or participant, you are encouraged to take a journey through the artwork which is shared/taught, and bear witness to the testimonies which inspired the artwork. The focus will remain on how the artwork glorifies God and encourage you to engage in the creative process (a microcosm of creation – Genesis, Chapter 1, Verse 1). This channel will exclude personal information with regards to the artist (Revelation, Chapter 19, Verse 10); inspired servant is merely sharing and teaching as gifted by God (Romans, Chapter 12, Verse 4-8). The hope is that you are blessed as an observer or participant with what is shared and taught (Exodus, Chapter 31, Verse 1-6) through this ministry.
