Point guard Jeremy Fears Jr. (illness) was ruled out as the ninth-ranked Spartans hosted Oregon at Breslin Center and was not in the building. Coach Tom Izzo on his pregame radio show said Fears was unlikely to play, and he was ruled out before tipoff. Forward Xavier Booker (also ill) was questionable for the noon tipoff (Fox) and sat on the bench.

“The strength in numbers,” Izzo said on his pregame radio show, “we'll find out how strong they are.”
