Not too much to say here.

I needed a storage case for my camera equipment, or some of it, for use in the house just to keep it all on hand. It did not need to be too strong or robust as I was not planning to take it on the road. I selected this £29.99 case because of its large size and budget price. There is also a smaller version available.

At first sight, the case seemed fine. Inside the box was just the case itself with no instructions or information included, not that any was needed. Made entirely from ABS plastic the case is 52 x 35 x13 cm in size and weighs in at just 1.46 Kg. Inside the case and lid are several layers of shaped foam inserts with the topmost featuring small push-out squares of foam which can be removed to fit the shape of the items you plan to store inside. Certainly, you cannot fault the protection it offers in that respect.

The problem in this case is due to the ABS material used. It has little rigidity or tensile strength, if you were to stand on it it would flex and impact whatever is inside with the latches almost certainly popping open. It would be OK with minor impacts or compressions but nothing major. I would not trust it in the back of a van with other heavy cases on top of it. ABS has also been used for the latches holding the case shut, and this is the major drawback of the case. There is no way to lock it shut, the latches simply click in place and just as easily click open again. In fact, with the case I received, only one of the two latches would actually engage and click shut, the other kept popping open each time. Not good.

I would suggest paying more or looking around for a case with proper lockable catches to secure it shut.

Had I been looking for a storage case suitable for heavy duty or travel use, I would have sent it back and bought a proper flight case, but since it was just for use at home, I decided to hang on to it.
