Why China Owns Most of the World's Skyscrapers

But why does China keep building skyscrapers? So I lived in China for 10 years when I was younger. And Skyscrapers were so normal, that it made me question why buildings are so short in the West. But this isn't my fault. You see, there are 4,966 skyscrapers in the world. 4,377 of which are in China.
So why so many?

At first you might think it is propaganda. But China doesn't feature skyscrapers in films like American movies do. It's actually cuz of the same reason as to why crazy mega city projects look like this. Mass transportation systems don't have to be as long or complicated. There is more land for agriculture. And surveillance, is easier. So...
