Austrian intelligence services in Vienna rated and detained Richard Medhurst, who accused him of being a member of Hamas, an Islamic militant Palestinian nationalist and Islamist movement.

According to Medhurst, he is being investigated for terrorism in two countries. He could be sentenced to up to 14 years in the UK and an additional 2–5 years if he doesn't provide his phone passwords, as well as possibly another 10 years in Austria and the possibility of having his residency revoked.
