How to prevent catastrophic damage to your small outboard motor

Hello everyone and thank you for stopping by. This video comes from a comment that a viewer left on one of my videos where I reviewed my 6hpTohatsu outboard after 2 1/2 years of use. He said that his experience was not the same and that he would replace the outboard with another brand. He then mentioned that he was using it on a sailboat, which pretty much let me know what happened. He must have left it exposed to the elements for who knows how long and the shift lever broke and had to replace the carburetor. In this video, I go over some tips and tricks know how to prevent said damage. Hope this video helps you guys.

***Time between oil changes***
I forgot to mention this, changing the motor and gear case oil should be done every 100 hours of use or once a year. I also change the spark plug on mine since they are cheap during the oil change. If you have an older outboard, checking the oil every now and then should be routine since they tend to burn oil.
