Plot:
"28 Days Later" begins with animal rights activists breaking into a lab where chimpanzees are being used for research on a virus called "Rage," which causes extreme aggression. The activists release the chimps, but one of them attacks a researcher, spreading the virus.
The story then jumps to 28 days later, where, Jim, wakes up from a coma in a deserted hospital. He discovers that London is now abandoned and learns from newspapers and notices that a devastating epidemic has wiped out most of the population, turning survivors into aggressive, zombie-like creatures.
Jim meets Selena, a survivor who explains the situation and the necessity of staying vigilant. They later encounter Frank and his daughter Hannah, who join them in their quest to find safety. They attempt to reach a military broadcast promising safety, but upon arrival, they find the soldiers are more interested in control and exploitation than in providing refuge.
Characters:
Jim (Cillian Murphy): Who wakes up from a coma to find the world changed. He transitions from confusion to a determined survivor.
Selena (Naomie Harris): A cautious survivor who initially guides Jim through the new world. She's practical, sometimes harsh, but shows depth of character as the narrative develops.
Frank (Brendan Gleeson): A taxi driver who, along with his daughter, has managed to survive. He's optimistic but also protective of his family.
Hannah (Megan Burns): Frank's teenage daughter, who initially appears more vulnerable but shows resilience and courage as the story progresses.
Major Henry West (Christopher Eccleston): The leader of a small group of soldiers at a barricaded mansion. He initially seems like a savior but reveals a more sinister side as the film unfolds.
Mark (Noah Huntley): One of the first survivors Jim meets, who doesn't last long into the film, providing a stark lesson on the dangers of the new world.
Corporal Mitchell (Ricco Ross) and other soldiers: Part of Major West's group, their depiction adds to the tension and themes of trust and betrayal.
