Halibut Shoot
13
This is how we get large halibut into a boat safely and effectively in Alaska. Yes, three shots... the reason being we want the tool completely empty before bringing it back into a boat with clients. Safely protocol. Some halibut don't cooperate as nicely as this girl, and one shot might not cut it. This fish was about 100lbs. Not a monster, but can still hurt someone if flopping around deck while its got hooks, gaffs, harpoon tip maybe... you know, sharp stuff. Halibut are also very strong fish. We're all looking forward to the start of another great season!
