Marquette, MI Readies for 2025 UP200 Sled Dog Race

Setup underway before the start of the UP200 sled dog race today in Marquette, Michigan

The race is returning after a two-year hiatus, with the 2023 and 2024 editions both cancelled due to poor conditions for the race (2023 because of rain, 2024 because of warm weather)

The UP 200 race, an Iditarod qualifier where mushers race with 12-dog teams, is set to kick off Friday evening at 7pm EST. The race’s trail covers 228 miles, going from Marquette to Grand Marais and back

Two other sled dog races are a go for this weekend as well: the 82-mile, 8-dog Midnight Run is set to start in downtown Marquette at 8:30pm EST, and the 26-mile, 6-dog Jack Pine 30 starts Saturday at 10am EST in nearby Gwinn, Michigan
