Trump invited Canada to join the U.S. Union—an offer, not a threat.

I just want to set the record straight. President Donald Trump invited Canada to join a Union of States. When the United States of America first Declared Independence and was Constituted the word ‘State’ means a free and independent nation of its own. Every one of the original thirteen colonies up until even Texas more recently was its own country but still decided to enter into this Union. Since all President Donald Trump did was give us an invitation it’s impossible to ‘retaliate’ against such an offer. There’s nothing to ‘retaliate’ against. We can decline the offer but even that should be up to the citizens. The only way really we can retaliate is by simply joining. Instead of threatening someone who never threatened us let’s just have a civilized debate on the merits of the offer. Try, for example, actually comparing the American Constitution to the one we already have and you’ll very easily see why America has been the greatest Nation on the planet for close to 250 years. Having 10% representation in Congress in Washington DC is WAY better than, for example, having a vote at the UN.
