Remembering Horizons attraction at EPCOT Center

Horizons was a dark ride attraction at Epcot, a theme park at Walt Disney World in Florida. It opened on October 1, 1983, as part of Phase II of Epcot, exactly one year after the park's opening. The attraction showcased visions of the future, highlighting advancements in communication, energy, transportation, anatomy, and humanity's relationship with the sea and land. Horizons featured Disney's Omnimover system and used Audio-Animatronics to create immersive scenes. It closed permanently on January 9, 1999, due to a sinkhole beneath the building and the end of General Electric's sponsorship. The ride building was demolished in 2000 to make way for Mission: SPACE, which opened in 2003.
