AVOWED Backpedals on Woke Messaging Ahead of Game’s Launch

Sales and player count for Obsidian Entertainment’s latest game, Avowed, look like they have the potential to do fairly well following the revelation the pronoun choice could be removed.

Back in December the game’s director, Matt Hansen, made statements on social media celebrating Elon Musk criticizing his game for including pronoun options for characters. Things got worse when internal messages from the company were leaked. They showed Obsidian employees were deliberately trying to upset conservatives while pushing a far-left political ideology. It would appear as the lead up to the release of the game neared the company tried to soften their rhetoric. It’s now up in the air whether or not this will be enough.
