While the exact number of IRS workers affected is unclear, the agency previously restricted buyout offers for employees working on the 2025 tax season until after the filing deadline.

The Biden administration had invested $80 billion into the IRS to improve customer service and enforcement, but Republicans have been pushing to cut these funds, the Associated Press has reported.

Meanwhile, a lawsuit filed by 14 states challenges Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) over its authority to restructure the government.
