She instructs Rowan and Moira not to interrupt her regardless of what they see, as it will require all her powers to retrieve her sister, which results in them seeing Evelyn's true shape, a much older version of herself. She's been using magic to hide her age, though pulling Dolly Jean out leaves both of them weak.
