In fact, Burano is a fishing village of about 2,000 people, thriving thanks to tourists from Venice who come to buy lace here and photograph the colorful houses and picturesque canals. According to local legend, houses began to be painted in rich shades and different colors so that fishermen could recognize their home when returning from fishing.
