Scott Galloway's Dark Side Dare: A Bold Blueprint for Democrats to Counter Trump and Musk
"Go to the Dark Side": Scott Galloway Slams Democrats for Rolling Over for Trump and Musk
During a Thursday segment on CNN, Scott Galloway—a well-known tech investor and current professor at New York University—delivered a scathing critique of Democrats, arguing that they aren’t reacting forcefully enough to Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk’s rapid accumulation of power.
Revisiting His Earlier Call to Action
Galloway recalled an earlier stance where he urged Democrats to storm the buildings where Musk’s employees were accessing sensitive systems and making sweeping changes. When CNN host Dana Bash pointed out that Democrats had already taken similar actions, Galloway quipped:
“Yeah, Dana, I was wrong because it looked more like a seniors’ home where Jell-O night got canceled. It just wasn’t optically a good moment for us.”
Pushing for Bold New Policies
Moving beyond symbolic protests, Galloway insisted that Democrats need to adopt visionary, transformative policies. He outlined several ambitious proposals, including:
Economic Reforms: Instituting a tax holiday for individuals aged 20 to 30 and constructing 10 million new homes over the next decade.
Universal Basic Income: Implementing universal basic income for industries or workers displaced by artificial intelligence.
Healthcare Overhaul: Gradually reducing Medicare coverage over the next 20 years to pave the way for a nationalized healthcare system that offers greater access and lower costs.
Venturing to the “Dark Side”
In an unexpected twist, Galloway suggested that once Democrats secure control of government branches, they should "go a bit to the dark side." His provocative recommendations included:
Drafting legislation to remove security details for former presidential advisors.
Renaming “space” as “American Space.”
Potentially seizing control of any foreign satellites, including the 51% majority owned by SpaceX.
He also called on Democrats to encourage consumers to avoid companies like T-Mobile and United Airlines if they continue making deals with SpaceX. “When I get an Uber alert saying your Tesla Model S is on its way, I cancel and say I’m not riding in a Tesla,” he declared.
A New Direction for the Democratic Party
Galloway concluded with a forceful message:
“The Democratic Party needs to move away from being the party that just waves their cane at a building and towards being the party of big ideas – no f---ing around.”
He acknowledged that his earlier advice on resisting some of the Trump administration's moves had backfired, comparing the resulting image to “a seniors’ home on a canceled Jell-O night.” Yet, he remains convinced that Democrats must evolve from symbolic protests to championing bold, transformative ideas if they wish to counterbalance the rising power of figures like Elon Musk.
As the political landscape shifts, Galloway’s incendiary vision poses a challenge to the Democratic Party: to transform from reactive demonstrators into architects of groundbreaking policy in a rapidly changing world.
