Kate Winslet to Make Directorial Debut with Goodbye June for Netflix

Oscar-winning actor Kate Winslet is set to make her directorial debut with Goodbye June, a Netflix drama in which she will also star. The film features an ensemble cast, including Toni Collette, Johnny Flynn, Andrea Riseborough, Timothy Spall, and Helen Mirren.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film's screenplay is penned by Joe Anders, Winslet’s son with her ex-husband Sam Mendes. Winslet will also produce the project alongside Kate Solomon, who previously produced Lee, a biopic about model-turned-World War II photographer Lee Miller, starring Winslet and Riseborough.

Described by Netflix as a "touching, yet humorous" drama, Goodbye June follows a group of estranged siblings who come together under unexpected and challenging circumstances. Production is set to begin soon in the UK.

Winslet, best known for her iconic roles in Titanic, Quills, and Hamlet, has had a celebrated career spanning decades. While this marks her first time directing a feature film, she previously produced projects such as HBO’s Mare of Easttown, for which she won an Emmy.

With a stellar cast and a deeply personal script, Goodbye June is shaping up to be a promising addition to Winslet’s already impressive filmography.
