Stages of the (above ground visible) Kaohsiung Station 高雄車站 ongoing construction works are presented in several episodes.

Episode 17
Status as per 2025, mid January.
The historic Kaohsiung Railway Station building is surrounded by an elevated garden, a hotel and an office building are part of the redevelopment of downtown Kaohsiung and the main train station. The completion of the project was celebrated on 2024 December 28.
The new station building is open for the public and operational. Landscaping and gardening works and final touch-ups are ongoing. The bus terminal and the car and scooter parks are not yet available. The hotel and commercial buildings are not yet open for the public.
See the colored sections of the road outside Kaohsiung Main Station. The southbound road is painted red, while the northbound road is painted blue, both using aggregate-containing paint to increase traction on the road.
Kaohsiung station will see high-speed rail trains arriving underground in a couple of years time according to recent planning. 25.9 kilometers of rail tracks, starting from HSR Zuoying Station, passing through Kaohsiung train station and terminating at a planned HSR Pingtung Station in the county's Liukuaicuo area are yet to be built.

Episode 16
Status as per 2024, mid March.
Canopy construction is almost complete. The steel structure of the main roof has been erected. Waterproofing and root control fabric have been installed in more areas. The future cycling path and walkways on the roof are clearly visible. Gardening works are ongoing. Access stairs to the canopy have been installed at several locations.

Episode 15
Status as per 2023, mid July.
Canopy construction is ongoing. The steel structure of the main roof has been erected further to the north. Corrugated steel sheets are in place in some areas (waiting for the concrete slab to be poured). Waterproofing and root control fabric have been installed in some areas. The future cycling path and walkways on the roof are clearly visible.

Episode 14
Status as per 2023, mid February.
Lower levels of the station building can be seen in construction north of the already finished part of the station building. The bus station area saw significant progress (east of Zhandong Rd). Station access for pedestrians from the east has been opened. Canopy construction is ongoing. Road traffic flow has been changed on 2022 October, 29: Southbound traffic runs from Boai Rd via Zhanxi Rd to Zhongshan Rd. Northbound traffic runs from Zhongshan Rd via the newly opened Zhangdong Rd to Boai Rd.

Episode 13
Status as per 2022, end June.
Extended construction pits can be seen north of the already finished part of the station building. One construction pit is located east of the old station building. Canopy construction is ongoing. The east-west axis canopy structure is complete.

Episode 12
Status as per 2022, beginning March.
Steel frame of second tall building is complete; some floor slabs have been already concreted. Cladding of the first tall building has been (almost fully) installed. Canopy construction is ongoing (in particular at the bus station area). Construction pits can be seen north of the already finished part of the station building.
