IS YOUR FAITH DEAD?

Dear Pastor Bob: Some Christians teach that while we cannot earn Salvation by our good works, we can prove our Salvation by our works. I thought that we proved our Salvation by God’s work and what was accomplished on the Cross through Christ, and us believing and trusting in that? I understand that we should walk in good works. But if we have to prove our Salvation by our works, then I am concerned we may get to a point where we conjure up a bunch of works just to keep ourselves assured of our Salvation and eternal life. But is this healthy? What is the Biblical way to look at this?
