Culture is developed from within the society. When culture is mandated by government officials and police forces, something very ugly is brewing.
Most people living comfortable lives don’t want to be bothered thinking about this, including many of my friends who keep talking non-stop about their hatred of Trump (though they can’t name one policy of his they oppose).

In Canada show up at the doors of those whose facebook posts the government doesn't like.

In the UK, ⁠police keep a database⁠ of “non-crime hate” incidents. There is no need to be convicted of this “non-crime” to be placed on a list that future employers can search to find police records about you.
⁠A year or so ago, the UK police targeted 4 boys for “scuffing” a Quran and recorded it as a “non-crime hate incident”. ⁠In the UK, when 4 boys scuffed a quran, some Muslim parents threatened the boy with death. He and his mom had to move for their own safety.

How did the police handle this?

No charges against those threatening to murder a child.

The boys were charged with a non-crime hate incident.
