DECEPTION IS ANYTHING THAT DIMINISHES YOUR FAITH AND TRUST IN GOD

They say the trouble with someone deceived is that they don't know they are deceived. That's the problem: deception blinds our eyes and stops our ability to see the truth.
So because we are good defenders of the faith, we take it upon ourselves to list the deceptions we encounter and often post them somewhere to be read by all. However, the whole nature of deception is that you don't know you're being deceived. So, while we were posting the names of major deceptions to avoid, we may be, at the same time, missing those small things that take away our faith in God.
Deception is anything that diminishes your faith and trust in God.
Fear is the usual tool the enemy chooses to open our door to doubt that God can provide or protect us. When the children of Israel approached the Red Sea, they had more faith in the ability of that sea to stop their advancement than they had in God to make way for them.
Put together the disciples of Christ, the storm in the middle of the lake, and Jesus asleep in the back of the boat. Here, we have the perfect storm for doubt and fear in the disciples' minds. They had just been through a supernatural crusade where everybody got healed, and Jesus fed thousands of people with just a fish and a loaf of bread.
But the storm was bigger than their faith. The deception was that the storm was going to sink the boat and kill everybody on board. They had lost their trust and faith in Jesus and his ability to take them to the other side.
How do we protect ourselves from deception?
We stay close to the source of our faith, which is a relationship with Jesus Christ and the Father through the Holy Spirit. It's more than having a relationship with the church, the people in the church, or memorizing scriptures in the Bible.
All of the above is meant to lead us into that relationship of intimacy in the presence of the Lord. That's where our faith is sustained and grows.
