Conversely, "bad" microbes, such as pathogenic bacteria or an imbalance in the microbiome (dysbiosis), can lead to inflammation, potentially contributing to conditions like irritable bowel syndrome, autoimmune diseases, or even mental health disorders. Therefore, the balance between beneficial and harmful microbes in the gut is pivotal for both immune function and neurological health.
