This legal action was centered on allegations that the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department had engaged in a longstanding pattern or practice of 𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗽𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴. The litigation raised concerns over excessive use of force, retaliation against whistleblowers, and misconduct within the ranks—including issues linked to deputy gang activities.
