The Book of Jonah

Jonah 1

1 And is word Yehovah unto Jonah, son Amitai, to say: 2 “Arise! Go unto Nineveh the city, the whopping, and call upon her for ascended their evil to My faces.” 3 And arises, Jonah, to flee Tarshish-ward from ‘to faces’ Yehovah. And descends, Joppa, and finds ship going Tarshish. And gives her fare. And descends in her to go with them Tarshish-ward from ‘to faces’ Yehovah.

4 And Yehovah hurled wind, whopping, unto the sea. And is tempest great in the sea. And the ship interpenetrated to break.

5 And fear, the mariners, and cry – man unto his gods – and hurl the wares which in the ship unto the sea to lighten from upon them. And Jonah descended unto flanks the vessel. And lays, and slumbers.

6 And approaches, unto him, great the rope-man, and says to him, “What to you, Slumberer? Arise! Call unto your God. Perhaps shines, the God, to us and no perish.” 7 And says, man unto his associate, “Walk! And we shall cast lots. And we shall know in that whosoever the evil, the this, to us.” And cast lots. And falls the lot upon Jonah. 8 And say, unto him, “Declare-ward, pray, to us, in which to whom the evil, the this, to us? What your employment, and from whence come? What your country, and from where this people you?” 9 And says, unto them, “Hebrew, I, and Yehovah God the heavens I fear, who made the sea and the dry.”

10 And fear, the men – fear whopping. And say unto him, “What this done?” For knew the men, for from ‘to faces’ Yehovah he fleeing. For declared to them. 11 And say, unto him, “What do to you, and subsides the sea from upon us?” For the sea walking and charging.

12 And says, unto them, “Lift me, and hurl me unto the sea. And subsides the sea from upon you. For knowing, I, for in that to me the tempest the great, the this, upon you.”

13 And dig*, the men, to return unto the dry. And no abled. For the sea walking and charging upon them. 14 And call unto Yehovah, and say, “Ah now, Yehovah, not, pray, shall we perish in soul the man, the this. And not give upon us blood innocent. For You, Yehovah, according to which delighted – done.” 15 And lift, Jonah, and hurl him unto the sea. And stands the sea from his rage. 16 And fear, the men, fear whopping – Yehovah. And sacrifice sacrifice to Yehovah. And vow vows.

17 And apportions, Yehovah, fish – great – to swallow Jonah. And is, Jonah, in bowels the fish three days and three nights.
