Old Car Boot Camp disable overdrive below 55 MPH

You will extend the remaining useful life of the automatic transmission in your #FreedomMachine if you will make it a habit to disable Over-Drive (O/D) while driving slower than 55 miles per hour. By locking it into DRIVE (a 1:1 transmission final gear ratio) you prevent the transmission wear that happens while it is between gears. Before I started doing this I constantly felt the car shifting between DRIVE and O/D. That 'gear hunt' never happens when I lock it into DRIVE below 55.

...and hey, if I am able to prevent a $3000 trans rebuild, I will gladly accept the one mile-per-gallon loss.
