Berlin Stabbing Extends Chain of Attacks Ahead of German Election

A 19-year-old Syrian refugee stabbed a Spanish tourist at Berlin’s Holocaust Memorial, intending “to kill Jews,” German authorities said.

The victim, wounded in the throat, survived after emergency surgery.

The suspect, arrested hours later with bloodstained clothes, had planned the attack for weeks.

The incident adds to a series of violent attacks by refugees ahead of Sunday’s key election, where immigration has become a major issue.

Authorities have also arrested suspects in other attacks, including a car ramming in Munich and a knife attack on a kindergarten group, the Wall Street Journal has reported.

Despite concerns, prosecutors found no evidence linking the Berlin attacker to organized groups.
