Hercules' Twelve Labors Explained

As written in the Myth, Hercules was given Twelve Labors as punishment for killing his wife, Megara, and their children in a fit of madness caused by Hera. To atone for his sins, he was ordered to serve King Eurystheus, who assigned him a series of nearly impossible tasks. Originally, there were ten labors, but Eurystheus rejected two (cleaning the Augean Stables and killing the Hydra) because Hercules had help. As a result, two more were added, making it twelve.
